Larry attended school in Lincoln, Nebraska and college in California at College of the Sequoias. He married Sonja in 1959 and they have two sons, Bret and Troy. Their two grandchildren are Mercedes, who attends Panhandle State in OK and Jhett who is a junior at Salida High School, Salida, CO.

Some of Larry’s rodeo honors/awards are: 1957 High School All Around at Harrison, Nebraska; Champion Nebraska State Calf Roper – 1961, 1963 and 1964; Champion Nebraska State Team Roper-Heeler – 1961, 1972, 1978, 1979, 1982 and 1983; and Champion Nebraska State Team Roper-Header – 1984.
Larry has won many saddles and trailers at large ropings throughout Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Iowa and Kansas.
He has also won the Mid-States Team Roping championship many times.

He has also won USTRC (United States Team Roping Championships) heeler many times and in 1991 won the world title at Guthrie, Oklahoma with Tony Tonnozzi. He retired from roping at 70 years young and continues ranching on the ranch in Arthur County.
